iconik - a jam-packed feature release

Blog article cover image

If you have been watching with bated breath for the next release, you may have noticed that it has been almost two months since we made a feature release in iconik. However, you will be pleased to know that it’s because we’ve been busy designing and developing. Thanks to a couple of months with our heads down, this release is packed with some pretty great features.

Updates include:

1. Archive Support

iconik now supports archiving to various cloud based solutions. Now you can archive and restore your assets to/from AWS S3/Glacier, Google Coldline, and Backblaze B2.

You can also add an iconik Storage Gateway (ISG) as an archive storage. This is pretty useful if you want to archive your assets to your on-prem SAN/NAS/Object Store for instance.

2. Audio Support (because we all know audio is important too)

We cleaned up the player design and also added a list of audio support improvements. You can now playback the audio clips directly in the search results page without having to go into each asset page. Pretty useful if you want to quickly browse through a set of audio files.

We’ve also improved the audio player to show stereo waveforms and audio levels. Just like the video player the JKL key bindings work to change the playback speed from 0.5x to 16x.

Audio assets (like any other assets) can be sent for review and approval and time based comments can be added for detailed comments. Let us know what you think of the new design!

3. Storage Browser

iconik scans and indexes all your storages and keeps track of any changes. We’ve now added a browser support for each storage so you can browse the contents of each storage including the folder structure directly from iconik. If ingested, the files are linked to the asset in iconik so you can go directly from the browser window to the asset page.
